Why no ladies smoking cigars?
It does seem obvious, but I can really see both sides: Why are there no ladies smoking cigars, let alone beautiful women smoking cigars?
Sure, cigars are very male and it’s obvious that women see them as filthy and disgusting. When and old friend was over and we were sharing a few cigars, I asked him if his wife (who smokes cigarettes) would smoke cigars. He instantly said no, no way, wasn’t going to happen because cigars are “nasty.” Hardly surprising.
But, that’s what makes it surprising. These days women seem to leaping at the chance to do everything men do often for little more reason than men do it. I could easily see women taking up cigar smoking simply because it’s there and men do it. Given how many women smoke, it’s kind a surprising more of them aren’t into cigars.
Now, I don’t mean for this to become a plea for women to start smoking…just one of those odd thoughts that passes through from time to time.

Here in Chicago it is not uncommon to see a woman smoking in a restaurant (when allowed) or in a trendier bar.
It seems that the hardest thing for a woman who wants to get interested in smoking is assimilating into the masculine sub-culture which surrounds most smoke shops and clubs.
This scenario reminds me of the old cliché that women are poor at arithmetic, which is quite simply false. It is the sexist math teachers who teach girls that math is a man’s domain who perpetuate and encourage this fantasy. To exacerbate the situation these stodgy old math teachers don’t take the time to give equal attention to their female pupils because they assume that the girls cant/wont ever understand anyways.
This is much like the male dominated cigar world which just assumes that cigars are for men and never attempts to treat a lady to a fine smoke because they assume that think that women cigars are disgusting and are therefore incapable of enjoying one of life’s finer pleasures.
Women in the States not smoking is purely cultural. If there were more opportunities for women to learn about cigars and appreciate their subtleties there would certainly be many more women smoking.

I live in NYC and I am female and smoke cigars. I think they are great! The problem is the lack of cigar bars to smoke in. There are very few and anti-smoking laws in general have gotten obscene.
The masculine sub culture doesn’t bother me at all. My boyfriend and I both smoke them. I am the buyer and all the research for purchasing the cigars, humidors, etc. It’s similiar to drinking wine, IMO.

I am female smoker and model here in Chicago. I indulge in a fine cigar every chance I get. I try to research as much as I can on the cigar that I smoke. My husband and I both indulge and it is apart of our weekend regime. I also took up doing my own personal cigar review on my website. This kind of helps me keep track of most of my smokes and record what I like and what I do not like. I have tried to introduce cigar smoking to some of my female peers and honestly they do not understand. I think for some of us women we feel that it is not lady like or feel that a potential boyfriend may not appreciate a woman doing something that is so hard and unladylike. But I do understand and can appreciate their mindset. Cigars just isn’t for everyone. But it’s defintely fo me!

Cigars are disgusting. They reek. People that smoke them are assholes, thinking that everyone around them wants to smell their shit and have their clothes and hair smell like shit. They don’t inhale - so what IS the POINT? Puff puff puff .. just fill the air with your shitty smelling cigar smoke. Assholes!
